On the evening of June 9, the hard rock band Hinder, played a concert at hanger 711. The 100th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs office, caught up with them and asked them a few questions.

Q - How did you become involved with Armed Forces Entertainment, and why do you think it's important to play for the troops?

A - "This is our second time playing over here, and the opportunity came up again, and we have always been big supporters obviously," said Austin Winkler, lead singer. "It's amazing to come over here and play shows and give them a little break from working and all that stuff."

Q - Do you find it rewarding to play for a military audience, and if so why?

A - "Of course it's rewarding," said Cody Hanson, drummer. "It's a great opportunity for us to give a little bit back to those who give up so much for us."

Q - Who chose the name Hinder and does it have a particular meaning?

A - "In 2001 we were starting to get a lot of gigs in our hometown, and we couldn't come up with a name. We were getting frustrated, so we looked up frustrated in the dictionary and found hinder," said Winkler.

Q - What does your music mean to you and others?

A - "It's really amazing to be able to write songs that touch people, and that they can relate to what we're talking about and what we've been through," said Winkler.

Q - What's your favorite song to play live and why?

A - Winkler; Joe Garvey, guitarist and Hanson replied, "Take it to the Limit," while Mike Rodden, bassist and Mark King, Guitarist said "Up all night."

Q - If you had one message to send to the troops, what would it be?

A - "God bless you for what you do and come home safely," said Winkler and King.
