Several events are scheduled throughout the week of April 20 to 24 at RAF Mildenhall in observance of the Holocaust.

The events here are set to begin with a short film and seminar at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Middleton Hall, with refreshments served prior to the event. The guest speaker will be 79-year-old Holocaust survivor Janina Fischler-Martinho, who will speak after a showing of the award-winning film "Toyland."

Two other movies, "Schindler's List" and "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas," are scheduled to be shown at Middleton Hall at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. The movies are free and open to everyone.

"The films were chosen to represent, if even just, a snapshot of the tragedy of the Holocaust," said Master Sgt. Anthony Weiss, Holocaust Remembrance program coordinator.

Throughout the entire week, books and films about the Holocaust will be on display at the RAF Mildenhall library.

"It's important that Airmen, particularly in Europe, have an understanding of the Holocaust so that they may be able to pay tribute as well as pass on the story," Sergeant Weiss said.
