Hammering it out
Airman 1st Class Robert Byers, a 100th Maintenance Squadron aircraft hydraulic apprentice, hammers a sleeve onto a refuel nozzle recently at RAF Mildenhall, England. Aircraft rely heavily on hydraulic power to operate properly, from extending the nozzle for aerial refueling to flap actuators that steer the aircraft in flight. Airmen in the hydraulic shop ensure all hydraulic components go through vigorous inspections and are fully functional before being released to any aircraft. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt.
