As of Nov. 1, RAF Mildenhall drivers must have the new Driving/Fuel Permit or they will be unable to purchase tax-free fuel from the base.

The DFP can be obtained from 100th Security Forces Squadron Pass and Registration in Bldg. 438 until Oct. 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. daily. Non-DFP customers may be given priority during these times as mornings are already dedicated for DFP issue to specially designated groups.

From Oct. 27 to Nov. 7, DFP customers will report to the Bob Hope Community Center. Pass and registration will continue to issue DFPs after Nov. 1, but personnel may risk not being able to purchase tax-free fuel when they need it.

To get a DFP, pass and registration needs the old blue fuel card, U.S. Air Forces in Europe driving permit, and V5 (vehicle registration certificate) on each vehicle in the household. If a vehicle has never been registered on base before, a valid MOT or SVA certificate and proof of insurance is also needed.

The DFP lists the make, model and registration numbers of all vehicles, and the card will be issued only to entitled individuals and their spouses. Dependent drivers who are not spouses are not authorized tax-free fuel under the new program. Motorcycles riders must also have a motorcycle endorsement on their U.S. driver's license as well as current Motorcycle Safety Foundation certification.

Under the new fuel program, normally only two vehicles per household are allowed to be listed on the DFP for duty driving purposes. Entitled members may own more than two vehicles, but listing more than two vehicles on the DFP requires additional justification and approval prior to DFP issue. Motorcycles do not count against the two-vehicle limit for the DFP.

For deployed personnel, pass and registration requests unit deployment managers contact them and schedule a DFP issue date during the deployed Airman's reintegration. The spouses of entitled deployed servicemembers do not have to wait until the return of their sponsors; they may attend one of the issue times and receive their DFP as long as they have the required documentation.
