The pregnant runner Published Sept. 10, 2008 100th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs RAF MILDENHALL, England -- Maj. Deborah Newman, 100th Communications Squadron Deputy Commander, finished Team Mildenhall's half marathon with a time of 1:55.43. Q: What was your goal for the race? A: To finish in under two hours. Q: What was your previous personal record? A: 1:53 at the 2005 Paris Semi-Marathon. Q: What did you learn from this race? A: That I hate having someone right on my back pacing themselves off of me. Q: What was the best part of the race? A: Finishing (and passing other people). Q: Would you do it again? A: Yes. Q: What inspired you to run the half marathon? A: Originally, back in July, I wanted to knock 10-15 minutes off my last half marathon from three years ago, but then when I realized that I was going to be three-and-a-half months pregnant at the time of the marathon I just wanted to finish around the same time from Paris. Q: What have you done in the past that led you to run this? A: Seoul Marathon 2004, Paris half marathon 2005, UK Ironman 2007 and ToughGuy Race 2008. Q: What are your plans after this? A: Do more halves and perhaps try at another Ironman. Q: Did you achieve your goal? A: Yes.
