The Family Advocacy Program has put together the following two-minute seminar.

New Marriage Guidelines for Airmen

Question: What were the old marriage guidelines to follow?
Answer: Communication, quality time spent together and unconditional love

Question: What are the new marriage guidelines to follow?
Answer: Communication - it's more than just talking, it's also listening; quality time spent together - it's not always about the serious stuff. Have fun together; unconditional love - respect, trust and affirmation happens both ways.

Question: So what's actually new about the marriage guidelines?
Answer: Your renewed commitment to making your partner or spouse a priority.
True love is a choice that you make daily. "I love you" takes seconds to say but a lifetime to commit to.

Think of it this way: Like your personal health, relationships also need regular check-ups. This helps you identify the early warning signs of common marriage ailments that threatens to spread in the relationship: boredom; taking each other for granted;
focusing only on children, friends and in-laws and not each other; slowly growing apart;
no common interests and keeping score (no one wins when this happens ... ever.)

When was the last time you said, "I'm sorry?" (This may be the time to make that phone call.)

Question: So what will it take for your marriage to go the distance?
Answer: Refer back to the old and new guidelines above.
And, add a few of your own relationship enhancing tools.

Commitment + Choices = Happy Marriage
