American Air Day at Imperial War Museum in Duxford slated Aug. 22

American Air Day at the Imperial War Museum at Duxford is slated for Friday.

Duxford owns a rich history in military aviation, and this year marks the 90th anniversary of its opening as an airfield. U.S. Army Air Forces were stationed there during World War II.

The museum holds a wealth of aviation history including an SR-71 Blackbird and a Concorde. Admission to the different buildings is included with the ticket.

Below is a schedule of events for the American Air Day as well as a list of ongoing ground displays. Tickets are available at ITT for 10 pounds. Gate admission is 18 pounds. No discounted tickets are available at the gate. Children 15 and under are free.

10 a.m. -- Gates Open

10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. -- Complimentary guided tours of AirSpace (meet in the foyer) and Hangar 4 (meet by the Bristol Fighter) hosted by the Duxford Associates.

10:30 and 11:30 a.m. -- U.S. Air Forces in Europe Military Working Dog demonstration held on the west side of the American Air Museum.

11 a.m. -- POW/MIA Ceremony in the American Air Museum.

11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. -- USAFE Rock Band "Touch 'n' Go" performs in Hangar 4.

1 to 3:15 p.m. -- First half of flying displays - USAFE aircraft flybys.

2:45 p.m. -- POW/MIA Ceremony in the American Air Museum.

3:30 to 4:30 p.m. -- Second half of flying display - The Turbulents and Duxford-based aircraft (Spitfire, P-51 Mustang, and F-86 Sabre).

4:45 to 5:30 p.m. -- USAFE Rock Band "Touch 'n' Go" performs in Hangar 4.

6 p.m. -- Museum closes
