Credit card theft is on the rise Published Aug. 4, 2008 By Staff Reports 100th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs RAF MILDENHALL, England -- An Air Force Office of Special Investigations and Security Forces Operations Investigations initiative has begun to explore the extent of a recent spike in credit card information theft experienced by 100th Air Refueling Wing and 48th Fighter Wing personnel. According to an e-mail from Lt. Col. Terry Bullard, AFOSI Detachment 512 commander at RAF Lakenheath, a new process has been adopted by both wings to identify common themes centrally, and provide base personnel and their families the first step in addressing credit card thefts. The new procedure is as follows: - Report to the servicing security forces squadron's law enforcement desk to provide information concerning the theft. It's critical that individuals bring copies of their billing statement and the complete information concerning the card which they suspect has been compromised if at all possible. - During the report, the complainant will be provided with a questionnaire which will gather a majority of the information needed to allow for further analysis of the theft in relation to others. *(note: Information will be safeguarded and only used by SFOI and AFOSI personnel engaged in this matter.) According to the e-mail, both base's legal offices are actively engaged in this endeavor and are available to assist in resolving any credit card issues dealing with theft or fraud. Information packets are available through first sergeants, and legal assistance is available at the legal offices. For more information about credit and debit card theft click here.
