RAF Mildenhall conducted a base-wide Phase II exercise June 24 to 26 to better prepare Airmen for deployments and wartime environments and to train for the upcoming operational readiness inspection in 2009.

"This type of exercise was a first for RAF Mildenhall, since it was in a designated 'play area' and simulated a deployed location," said Staff Sgt. Sheraz Cedeno, 100th Civil Engineer Squadron Readiness and Emergency Management.

Exercise training included command and control, chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear contamination scenarios, post-attack reconnaissance, suspicious packages and bomb threats. Also practiced, were evacuation procedures, structural damage to buildings, fire responses and self aid and buddy care.
