Six hundred active duty members from RAF Mildenhall have been preselected by the Department of Defense to attend a two-hour session for the DoD Behavioral Health Survey May 27 to 29.

Airmen will be assessed on risk and health behaviors, such as smoking, alcohol, drugs, stress and similar related subjects.

DoD-wide, 60,000 military members will be participating in the survey - RAF Mildenhall accounts for 1 percent of the survey population.

"A lot of coordination has gone into this, with the wing, group and squadron (executive officers)," said Mark Killin, 48th Medical Group Family Advocacy outreach manager. "Individuals selected for the survey will be contacted by their unit. If they are unable to take the survey, whether because of illness, leave or deployment, then an alternative person will be selected from a separate list."

The selected military members are only required to attend one two-hour session to take the survey; they do not need to be there for the three full days, Mr. Killin said.

Each unit is asked to coordinate a scheduled time slot for their Airmen to participate in the survey. A maximum of 100 people (total, not per unit), and minimum of 50, is preferred for each slot over the three days.

There will be four sessions each day. May 27 and 29, sessions will be at the base chapel; May 28, the survey will be held in the 100th Operations Group auditorium at Building 809.

For more information, and to schedule an appointment for the survey, those selected should call Mr. Killin at 226-8070, or e-mail him at mark.killin@lakenheath.af.mil.
