General Brady assumes command of USAFE

WASHINGTON --  The former senior officer in charge of manpower, personnel and services at the Pentagon was promoted to four-star general and assumed command of U.S. Air Forces in Europe at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, during a ceremony Jan. 9 at the Pentagon.

Gen. Roger A. Brady will command the organization which provides warfighting capabilities throughout the entire area of responsibility including 92 countries in Europe and Africa.

"I'm humbled to have been granted the privilege of commanding a group of Airmen with such a rich heritage," General Brady said. "Over the next few years, the USAFE mission promises to be an exciting one that is constantly evolving - whether it's supporting warfighters, providing global vigilance or helping form a new major command in Africa."

General Brady has also commanded a support group and he was vice commander of an air logistics center. He has served as a director of personnel, logistics, plans and programs, and operations at three major commands.

From June 2004, the general served as the Air Force's senior officer in charge of manpower, personnel and services at the Pentagon. There, he was responsible for comprehensive plans and policies covering all aspects of military and civilian personnel management.

Gen. Brady entered the Air Force in 1969 through the University of Oklahoma Reserve Officer Training Corps program. His involvement in deployed operations includes service in Vietnam, deployment of NATO forces in support of Operation Desert Storm, securing coalition support for the stand-up of expeditionary wings during Operation Allied Force, and providing Total Force and Civil Reserve Air Fleet air mobility support to operations Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. General Brady is a command pilot with more than 3,000 hours in T-37 Tweet, T-38 Talon, T-1 Jayhawk, KC-135 Stratotanker, C-21 and C-5 Galaxy.
