Brian Bowers squeezed the ball home late in the second half to give the 95th Reconnaissance Squadron a narrow 3-2 win over the 100th Logistics Readiness Squadron in intramural outdoor soccer played in very blustery conditions at RAF Mildenhall, Sept. 19.

Both teams found it hard to adapt to the strong wind and dry pitch making playing conditions very difficult for soccer. The 95th RS wasted some good early opportunities in front of goal and paid for it when Dustin Rice gave 100th LRS the lead.

Carlos Rojab, for the 95th RS always looked lively when on the ball and he set up his coach Richard Christensen to level the score at 1-1. Then a good individual goal on the stroke of half time by Carlos Rojab gave the 95th RS a 2-1 interval lead.

Second half started slowly with both teams again struggling with the wind, the rain now adding to the conditions, but 100th LRS kept battling away and some tireless work from Dustin Rice and William Nicholson up front paid off when Rice scored his second goal of the game to level the score at 2-2.

The match at this stage could have gone either way but to the 95th's credit, they manage to edge their way back in front when Brian Bowers got on the end of a cross and sent the ball high into the net for the winner.
