RAF Mildenhall to host Mayfair Bazaar May 11 to 13

RAF MILDENHALL, England -- The RAF Mildenhall Officers and Civilians Spouses' Club will be hosting the Mayfair Bazaar May 11 through 13 in Hangars 771 and 772 on the south side of base.

"This year's Mayfair Bazaar is exciting, because we had a large effort to refresh the vendors this year," said Torie Flood, RAF Mildenhall Officers and Civilians Spouses' Club president.

To make sure the bazaar stays fresh this year, last year's list of vendors was completely revamped. Thirty to 40 percent of the 115 businesses invited to attend have been replaced by new local vendors. In addition to vendors, the occasion will also feature carnival rides and food booths.

"It's a great weekend to take the kids out and enjoy the amusement rides," Mrs. Stephanie O'Grady, Mayfair Bazaar publicity coordinator, said. "There's funnel cake, and of course the great shopping too. It's like a carnival - it's something you don't get very much of while you're here, and it's like a taste of home."

The event, now in its 37th year, wouldn't be possible without the help of volunteers from all over base. The OCSC is in need of about 100 volunteers for the event. They will help vendors keep track of sales and assist the bazaar's hospitality committee.
All active-duty members and their families can volunteer. Volunteers will automatically be entered in a drawing for a free weekend at the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort in Germany for each four-hour shift they work.

Anyone who wants to volunteer should call Samantha Sullivan, Mayfair Bazaar volunteer coordinator, at 01638-533396 or e-mail her at irishfalcon@earthlink.net.

The bazaar is slated to be open May 11, 4 to 8 p.m.; May 12, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and May 13, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Any one planning to attend the event is asked to use the West Row Gate on the south side of the base.
