Fire Prevention Week kicks off

Fire Prevention Week events scheduled

RAF MILDENHALL, England -- Fire Prevention Week is Oct. 4 to 10 and the 100th Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department is hosting a variety of events:

Oct. 4:

· 2 to 4 p.m. - The movie with Sparky the Fire Dog is scheduled to be "Hotel Transylvania 2" at the base theater. The first 50 children will receive free movie tickets for this showing.

Oct. 5:

· 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. - The fire department will have a fire safety information booth at the BXtra. Sparky the Fire Dog is scheduled to make a guest appearance and firefighters will perform demonstrations of a grease-pan fire, along with other demonstrations throughout the day.
· Noon - Firefighters and Sparky will visit base housing on RAF Mildenhall to provide fire safety hand-outs to residents.
· 4 to 5:30 p.m. - A grease-pan fire demonstration is scheduled to take place in the chiefs and officers housing area.

Oct. 6:

· 3:30 p.m. - Sparky will visit the RAF Mildenhall Youth Center.

Oct. 7:

· 11 to 11:45 a.m. - Story time with Sparky at the base library.
· 5 to 6:45 p.m. - Bowling with Sparky at the bowling alley, free to the first 50 children.

Oct. 8:

· 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. - Fire muster at the fire department, which includes an open house. These events include a smoke trailer, barbecue, entertainment, slide and a crash truck demonstration.

Oct. 9:

· 9 to 10:30 a.m. - Story time with Sparky at the RAF Mildenhall Child Development Center.
