Fire Prevention Week events scheduled

RAF Mildenhall's Fire Prevention Week is scheduled for Oct. 12 to 17, 2014 and the 100th Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department is hosting a variety of events:

Oct. 12:
7 a.m.-- Reveille Ceremony held at the base flagpole outside the 100th Air Refueling Wing Headquarters building 239.
2 to 4 p.m. -- A movie with Sparky the Fire Dog at the base theater. Sparky will hand out popcorn coupons to the first 50 children in attendance.

Oct. 13:
4 to 5:30 p.m. -- The firefighters are scheduled to host a grease-pan fire demonstration at the officer and chief housing area.

Oct. 14:
10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. -- The fire department is scheduled to have a fire safety information booth at the RAF Mildenhall Exchange where Sparky the Fire Dog is scheduled to make a guest appearance. Firefighters will demonstrate a grease-pan fire at 11:30 a.m., noon and 12:30 p.m. along with other demonstrations throughout the day.

Oct. 15:
5 to 6:45 p.m. -- Sparky the Fire Dog is scheduled to be at the base bowling alley handing out bowling tickets, gift bags and balloons to children.

Oct. 16:
9 to 10:30 a.m. -- Sparky the Fire Dog is schedule to read to pre-school children at the RAF Mildenhall Child Development Center.

Oct. 17:
11 a.m. to 6 p.m. -- The 100th CES will be hosting an open house at the fire department which includes a bouncy castle, fire truck slide, fire prevention training trailer, fire truck static display, vehicle fire demonstration and a Hazmat demonstration.
9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. -- A fire muster competition which will be open to all base personnel. Events including a bunker drill, hose drill, Keiser sled and mannequin rescue. Squadrons are invited to enter a four- to-five-person team. There will be free t-shirts for participants and a trophy for the winning team.
