For those looking to better themselves and their leadership skills, the 100th Air Refueling Wing Professional Development Center offers a variety of classes every month intended to help Airmen expand their knowledge and excel as professionals.

"We try to focus on the whole-person concept," said Master Sgt. Rebecca Marrs, 100th Force Support Squadron Professional Development Center career assistance advisor from Providence, Rhode Island.

By that, Marrs means a well-rounded, knowledgeable person who can succeed in their workplace as well as in their personal life. The PDC offers classes like Conflict Management, Seven Healthy Habits of a Highly Effective Person, Junior Enlisted Bullet Writing, Debt Reduction and many more.

"I think (PDC courses) can really help you - not just in career advancement but everyday life," said Airman 1st Class Nicholas Wiggin, 100th Security Forces Squadron response force member from San Fransisco. Wiggin attends PDC courses regularly.

"We really want people to excel and better themselves," said Marrs. "I feel like we have what they need to do that."

Even though the PDC offers nearly 50 different courses and five professional enhancement seminars, Marrs said that if anyone has an idea for new classes, or ways to improve the existing ones, they should contact the PDC.

"Everyone can get involved," Marrs added. "There's something for airman basics to base commanders, and even families too."

The PDC occasionally teams up with the Airman and Family Readiness Center to help expand the horizons of available courses and instructors.

Anyone interested in leading a course or seminar should contact the PDC. The staff will find a course that best matches a person's interests, provide a slideshow and guide potential instructors through their first class.

Anyone interested in taking a course should sign up before the class date. Courses that don't receive enough names on the sign-up list are subject to cancellation.

"Everyone can better themselves in some way," said Marrs. "A few Airmen learning a few new skills that they can bring back to their shops can really improve the whole team."

The PDC is located at building 680 behind the 100th Civil Engineer Squadron building on New York Avenue. For more information or to get involved, contact the PDC at DSN 238-5933 or commercial at 01638-545933.
