The 100th Logistics Readiness Squadron participated in a World War I commemoration parade alongside British counterparts Aug. 3, 2014, in Soham, England.

The annual event commemorates the outbreak of World War I and honors the fallen. Participating with the 100th LRS were members of the Royal British Legion, volunteers dressed in World War I uniforms, cadets and World War II veterans.

"We have a relationship with the town, sort of like an 'adopted' town," said U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Keith Taylor, 100th LRS superintendent of the deployment and distribution flight from Lake City, Florida. "The Royal British Legion asked us to march in the parade."

Approximately 40 Airmen from the 100th LRS marched through Soham.

"It was a great opportunity to be able to witness how another culture of people memorializes the fallen soldiers from World War I," said Airman 1st Class Christopher Folsom, 100th LRS vehicle maintainer from Valley, Alabama.

The event started at the war memorial in Soham, and ended with a drum service and name reading of the fallen.

"The U.S. Air Force is our neighbor and our ally, so whenever we have big events, their involvement is important," said John Linkin, chairman of the Royal British Legion in Soham, England.

"The Royal British Legion is responsible for remembering those who have fallen, and we will ask the Americans and any other of the armed forces in the area to join us," Linkin said. "We are family."
