Team Mildenhall celebrated the grand opening of Outdoor Recreation's new retail shop, located in building 162 on RAF Mildenhall, England July 30, 2014, with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The ceremony was an all-day event highlighting the new retail shop which features high-quality clothing, a defense reutilization and marketing office section, and equipment for all outdoor enthusiasts.

Accompanying the ceremony was a door prize drawing and a full line-up of demonstrations by local outdoorsmen which included jerky making, knife sharpening, U.K. style stocking and a clinic on how ancient survival tools were made. For many attendees, this was an opportunity to see the facility's new look and all it has to offer.

"I loved outdoor recreation even before the new addition," said Airman 1st Class Carlos Ferran, 100th Force Support Squadron fitness specialist from Colorado Springs, Colo. "By adding the retail shop, it has just broadened the possibilities of what I can do while stationed here."

Outdoor Recreation's main focus is to improve quality of life for Airmen, and the new addition gives a wider variety of supplies to reach that goal.

"Our main reason for having programs and facilities like outdoor recreation is to keep Airmen resilient," said David Wainwright, 100th Force Support Squadron Outdoor Recreation director from Telford, England. "We give them an opportunity to explore the area they live in, because our Airmen work hard so they should have the opportunity to play hard as well."
