A new prescription dispensing machine is scheduled to be up and running May 5, 2014 in the shoppette here.

The machine, called a ScriptCenter, will allow Team Mildenhall members to call the48th Medical Group pharmacy to order a prescription refill, then log in and pick up their prescriptions without having to go to the hospital on RAF Lakenheath.

"The ScriptCenter works like an ATM for prescription medication refills," said Capt. Katherine Waggner, 48th MDG outpatient pharmacy services chief. "The machine will provide convenience to Team Mildenhall members by giving them the opportunity to get their pharmacy refills on their own installation instead of coming over to RAF Lakenheath."

The ScriptCenter lets all active duty, military dependents, retirees and all eligible Department of Defense ID card holders pick up any prescription with the exception of oversized or refrigerated items. Prescriptions called in between Thursdays at 7 a.m. and Tuesdays at 7 a.m. will be ready for pickup after noon on Tuesdays. Prescriptions called in between Tuesday at 7 a.m. and Thursdays at 7 a.m. will be ready for pickup after noon on Thursdays.

Starting May 5 and running through May 9, personnel from the RAF Lakenheath pharmacy will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to answer any questions regarding the machine. The ScriptCenter is available for use any time the building is open, not just during the business hours for the pharmacy.

"There is additional benefit because the ScriptCenter can be used whenever the shoppette is open, which includes evening and weekend hours when the main pharmacy is closed," Waggner said.

The installation of the ScriptCenter is a joint effort between leaders from Team Mildenhall and the 48th MDG to make things a little easier for RAF Mildenhall members to get their prescriptions faster.

"The leadership of RAF Mildenhall has coordinated with the Medical Group leadership at RAF Lakenheath to find a solution that enhances patient care and access," Waggner said. "The ScriptCenter machines offer a good solution to how we can offer this type of remote pharmacy service which we know from experience is safe and effective as there is one currently being utilized within the RAF Lakenheath Commissary already. The mechanism is already in place, now the benefit is being extended directly to RAF Mildenhall as well."
