PRESS RELEASE: Main gate closure - Update Published Feb. 13, 2014 RAF MILDENHALL, England -- 100th Security Forces Squadron personnel activated special control measures at approximately 8:24 a.m. Feb. 13, 2014, after finding a suspicious package during a routine inspection, according to Lt. Col. Kevin Parker, 100th Civil Engineer Squadron commander. According to procedures, the 100th Security Forces Squadron team along with the Ministry Guard Service initiated enhanced security measures upon discovering a suspicious package in a vehicle at the Main Gate search barn. The vehicle was attempting to gain entrance onto the installation and was going through a routine search. Security personnel discovered the package and initiated enhanced security measures. The British Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit is on scene to investigate the package. All security measures are in place to ensure the safety of individuals until officials can determine the contents of the package. While personnel investigate the scene, the Main Gate (Gate 15) is currently closed until further notice. All inbound traffic is directed to use the West Row Gate (Gate 11) until further notice.
