October is Security Awareness Month. To highlight this, the 100th Air Refueling Wing Information Assurance Office has compiled a list of cyber awareness tips.

By using the tips and sharing them with family members, Team Mildenhall members will help keep information secure from our adversaries and continue to protect our resources.
  • Never leave a classified processing area unattended when working with classified information.
  • Ensure information assurance training is performed annually.
  • Ensure classified processing areas are implementing approved emission security countermeasures.
  • Be aware of potential email scams and fake anti-virus, phishing and spearphishing attacks.
  • Unattended common access cards are a security threat.
  • Do not download anything which isn't in the official use of duties as a representative of the government. Malware is easily attached to these files.
  • No personal devices of any type are authorized to be connected to government information systems.
  • Ensure your government and personal information systems have the most recent anti-virus signatures and patches loaded.
  • Removable media, including CDs and DVDs, floppy disks and external hard drives, must be labeled with classification, contents, contact office, name and number.
  • Have your network emergency tool readily available. Contact your unit information assurance officer if you don't have one.
