Fire Prevention Week events scheduled Published Oct. 2, 2013 By Staff Reports 100th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs RAF MILDENHALL, England -- Fire Prevention Week is Oct. 6 to 12 and the 100th Civil Engineer Squadron is scheduled to host a variety of events: Oct. 6: · 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. - Movies with Sparky the Fire Dog at the RAF Mildenhall Base Theater. Sparky will hand out popcorn coupons to the first 50 children Oct. 8: 6:45 to 7:15 a.m. - Sparky the Fire Dog will greet people at the main gate, Gate 15. "Firefighter Gary" will greet people at the West Row Gate 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. - The fire department will have a fire safety information booth at the BXtra. Sparky the Fire Dog is scheduled to make a guest appearance. Firefighters will demonstrate a grease-pan fire at 11:30 a.m., noon and 12:30 p.m. along with other demonstrations throughout the day Oct. 9: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - The 100th CES Fire Prevention office will perform fire drills in all commercial cooking facilities. Firefighters will also demonstrate a grease-pan fire throughout the day 5 to 6:45 p.m. - Bowling with Sparky at the RAF Mildenhall Bowling Center. Sparky will hand out bowling tickets and gift bags for children Oct. 10: 8 to 10:30 a.m. - Continue fire drills in all commercial cooking facilities. Firefighters will demonstrate a grease-pan fire during this timeframe 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. - Open House at the fire department! There will be a bouncy castle, fire truck slide, fire prevention training trailer, fire truck static display, chip pan demonstration, vehicle fire demonstration and fire extinguisher trainer 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. - Free barbecue at the fire deparment 1 to 4:30 p.m. - A fire muster competition, consisting of events including a bunker drill, hose drill, Keiser sled and mannequin rescue, is open to all base personnel. Squadrons are invited to enter a four- to-five-person team.
