RAF Lakenheath-based F-15s are temporarily being housed at RAF Mildenhall while runway repairs are accomplished at their home station.

Beginning Sept. 13, 2013, approximately 12 F-15s will relocate to RAF Mildenhall for at least two and a half weeks. During this time period, the fighters are scheduled to fly on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. each day.

The normal quiet hours for RAF Mildenhall will apply to the F-15 aircraft. This means, unless waivers are granted for specific occasions, there will be no F-15 flying during weeknights between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., and there will be no F-15 flying during the weekends between 6 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday.

"We have taken proactive steps here to mitigate the noise footprint on surrounding communities," said Sqn. Ldr. Richard Fryer, RAF Mildenhall station commander. "A minimal number of missions will be flown to reduce noise and no overhead patterns will be flown unless they are absolutely essential, but limited flying operations will continue so crews can maintain essential training requirements."

RAF Lakenheath's runway will be closed until approximately Oct. 1, 2013. Their helicopters will continue missions from home station and have not relocated to RAF Mildenhall.
