Holocaust survivor shares life story at remembrance lunch
U.S. Air Force Col. Kenneth T. Bibb Jr., right, 100th Air Refueling Wing commander, and Rudy Oppenheimer, a Holocaust survivor, light candles to remember those who lost their lives during the Holocaust and those who are survivors, at a Holocaust Remembrance Week luncheon April 16, 2015, on RAF Mildenhall, England. Oppenheimer, 83, was guest speaker at the luncheon. Born in Germany, he moved to the Netherlands when he was 4 years old. His family was Jewish, but because his sister was born in England, they were sent to an exchange camp where they were treated less harshly than others. Once the camps were liberated in 1945, the family moved to England to live with Oppenheimer’s uncle. (U.S. Air Force photo by Karen Abeyasekere/Released)
