Firefighters train in confined spaces
Firefighter Philip Semper, 100th Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department firefighter from Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, attaches a carabiner to ropes, securing a simulated casualty on a backboard, before lowering the victim down a ladder to safety July 2, 2013, on RAF Mildenhall, England. Firefighters were conducting confined-space-rescue raining on the roof of building 809. The scenario involved somebody being trapped under a grate after working on air conditioning units. Although an annual training requirement, the RAF Mildenhall firefighters perform it two or three times each year. (U.S. Air force photo by Karen Abeyasekere/Released)
