New security barriers save time, money, environment
A vehicle approaches the new vehicle access barrier May 7, 2013, before being brought to a halt near the Gateway Inn on RAF Mildenhall, England. Fifteen of the new “green” barriers, which are solar- and wind-powered, are being installed on RAF Mildenhall to replace several hundred old, plastic water barriers. The new barriers are key-located and sectorize the base. This means specific parts of the base can be closed off, rather than closing all entry and exit gates and bringing traffic to a complete standstill.
