ORE kicks off with response to smoke-filled building
Smoke pours out of the window of building 438 Dec. 3, 2012, at RAF Mildenhall, England, during an operational readiness exercise to test the base’s response capabilities. Firefighters responded to the smoke-filled 100th Security Forces Squadron building as people inside evacuated. The scenario involved three missing people– two adults and one child. The responders went inside to fight the fire and rescue the simulated casualties, which they did successfully. The ORE is one of many exercises in preparation for a combined unit inspection in 2013. Inspector General augmentees and IG inspectors observed the exercise and will provide base leadership a graded perspective on RAF Mildenhall’s ability to perform its mission both at home station and at deployed locations.
