Firefighters practice response to aircraft fire during ORE
RAF MILDENHALL, England – A convoy of fire trucks head down the RAF Mildenhall taxiway en route to an exercise Sept. 11, 2012. During the operational readiness exercise, firefighters responded to a simulated fire on board a KC-135 Stratotanker, which was a result of an “attack”. The first responders, wearing chemical gear under their protective suits, accessed the smoke-filled aircraft via a side door to rescue simulated casualties and extinguish the simulated fire.
