IDEA earns 100th AMXS maintainer $10,000

RAF MILDENHALL, England – The right-side hydraulic reservoir (large yellow tank) is shown here on a KC-135 Stratotanker. Tech. Sgt. Blake Cushing, 100th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron flightline expeditor, recently earned $10,000 through the Innovative Development through Employee Awareness program, after realizing it was not necessary to drain the reservoirs after every 900 flight-hour check when filters are changed. Cushing’s idea went through many stages of approval, including from the 100th Civil Engineer Squadron Environmental Management office, up to U.S. Air Force’s in Europe- and Air Force-level, before he was awarded the money. His idea will save the Air Force in excess of $132,000 per year.
