351st ARS pilot shares knowledge, experiences with local primary school children
MILDENHALL, England – Cain Ship and Reece Gilbert, both 9, from Great Heath Primary School, Mildenhall, wrap a hard-boiled egg in straws and duct tape during a team-building exercise Dec. 6, 2011. This event simulated making a lunar pod, with “astronauts” inside, so it would protect the passengers when it reentered the Earth’s orbit and made a landing in the ocean. 1st Lt. Mark Watson, 351st Air Refueling Squadron pilot, visited the school to talk to the children about various topics including the history of aviation. He showed them video footage of the Apollo 15 launch and landing, and said the experiment allowed the children to reenact the oceanic landing. (U.S. Air Force photo/Karen Abeyasekere)
