Tech. Sgt. Ted Hofknecht, 321st Special Tactics Squadron, scans a mountainside for insurgent activity from the side door of a helicopter in eastern Afghanistan. Hofknecht was honored at the Jewish Institute of National Security Affairs awards dinner in Washington D.C., Nov. 7, 2011, receiving the JINSA Grateful Nation Award. Hofknecht, from Crossville, Tenn., was attached to an elite Army Green Beret unit supporting NATO International Security Assistance Force objectives in Afghanistan from September 2010 to February 2011.
