World War II veterans visit RAF Mildenhall for first time in 66 years
RAF MILDENHALL, England -- Stan Franks, center, poses wtith the rest of his crew from 15 Squadron at RAF Mildenhall in 1945, when the base was solely British and Lancaster bombers were flown out of here. Franks returned to RAF Mildenhall 66 years later, when he visited Sept. 14, 2011. This was the first time that he, along with Jim Gooding, also stationed here in 1945, had visited RAF Mildenhall in more than half a century. (Courtesy photo)
