Memorial prepped for Patriot Day events Sept. 9

RAF MILDENHALL, England -- Gary Brown, a local contractor, trims hedges at the memorial near the Bob Hope Community Center here Sept. 8, 2011. The two tall hedges represent the twin towers of the World Trade Center that were attacked by terrorists Sept. 11, 2001. Patriot Day events will be held at the memorial Sept. 9 at 8:30 a.m., and will include: a formation of Team Mildenhall firefighters and security forces; a brief moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. to signify when the first plane struck the first tower; and Pledge of Allegiance led by children from Lakenheath Elementary School and childhood development center.
