Confined space facility provides additional training options for firefighters
RAF MILDENHALL, England -- Crew Manager Dave Bootman, 100th Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department, makes his way along a large pipe inside the confined space trainer March 8, 2011, during a training exercise in the newly-built facility. The structure provides firefighters multiple ways of reaching a victim, allowing use of different equipment, depending on the scenario. Once inside, obstacles can be placed to simulate potential hazards, which make it more difficult for the rescuers to manouever a victim if a backboard, litter or basket has to be used.
