KC-135 avionics upgrade helps strengthen bond between U.S., Turkish Air Forces
RAF MILDENHALL, England -- Tech. Sgt. Gary Weishaupt, 373rd Training Squadron, Detachment 19, communication navigation mission systems master instructor, helps a Turkish Air Force staff sergeant check one of the control panels on a KC-135 Stratotanker here March 2, 2011. Several students, both military and civilian, are here for a two-week course of classroom and hands-on instruction on the Global Air Traffic Management avionics system. The students trained by Sergeant Weishaupt will be Turkey's first cadre of GATM avionics technicians, who will pave the way for future avionics program expansion, but serving as instructors and mentors to new avionics trainees.
