Celebrating, sharing tales of aviation days gone by
RAF MILDENHALL, England -- This notebook, used by pilots in World War II, shows "How to Fly a Spitfire." These basic instructions were given to civilian pilots about to fly the planes. Peter George, one of the guest speakers at the "Women in Aviation" event Oct. 13 at Building 809, said the notebook was often the only instruction he was given before having to fly one of the 70 different types of aircraft he piloted between May 7, 1941, and Nov. 30, 1945.
