Celebrating, sharing tales of aviation days gone by
RAF MILDENHALL, England -- These historical photos, taken in 1943 and 1944, show Eleanor Wadsworth, then an Air Transport Auxilliary officer and pilot, in her uniform. Mrs. Wadsworth spoke to an audience Oct. 13 at Building 809, which included many female pilots from the 351st Air Refueling Squadron. Between June 1, 1943, and Sept. 30, 1945, Mrs. Wadsworth flew 22 different types of aircraft, including Hurricanes, and her favorite, the Spitfire. After the war, she worked as an architect.
