Iron Mike
NORMANDY, France – A monument at the famous “Iron Mike” drop zone near St. Mere Eglise, used by Allied paratroopers in the 1944 D-Day invasion, shows a U.S. servicemember from World War II. The memorial was the site of a ceremony where hundreds of paratroopers received wings from countries other than their own after participating in a static-line jump June 5.
