Watching the winds

NORMANDY, France – A member of the 321st Special Tactics Squadron, RAF Mildenhall, England, checks wind direction by tossing grass into the air and seeing which way the wind carries it prior to a High Altitude, Low Opening parachute jump over the famous “Iron Mike” drop zone, where the Allies first landed on D-Day in 1944. The Airmen participating in the jump were in France to commemorate the 66th anniversary of the start of the Allied invasion of Europe in World War II. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Austin M. May)
