‘Give me $20,000 and I’ll save you $200,000 … ’
Contaminated JP-8 is stored in plastic containers before being put through the filtration equipment. The fuel will be filtered seven times before it can then be made into heating oil. The contaminated JP-8 starts off as a red color; after being filtered, it runs clear. Recycling the fuel so it can be used for heating oil will save the Air Force $4 per gallon.
