Becoming American
Pictured with her husband, Master Sgt. Anthony Villamor, and son, Marc David Weidler, Kirsten Villamor celebrates becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen, Feb. 13, 2009. Mrs. Villamor is the first military spouse to be naturalized at RAF Mildenhall, England, and only the second military spouse to become an American citizen while in the United Kingdom. The National Defense Authorization Act was amended in January 2008 to allow military spouses to forego a trip to the United States, allowing them to become naturalized with family and friends at the overseas location in which their husband or wife or parent is currently stationed.
