RAF Mildenhall supports Global War on Terror

A B-1B Lancer from Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D., awaits a refueling crew at RAF Mildenhall Feb. 26. The plane stopped here while en route to a deployed location in Southwest Asia. The Lancer is a supersonic bomber capable of carrying 24 Mk-82 2,000-pound bombs. In total, its four afterburning turbofan engines generate about 120,000 pounds of thrust, powering it to speeds in excess of Mach 1.2 at sea level.
