The front door to RAF Mildenhall
Senior Airman Marquette Beard, left, 100th Force Support Squadron Gateway Inn front desk clerk, talks with Tech. Sgt. Donald Allen, right, 727th Air Mobility Squadron, about the Prime Knight service Dec. 2, as Airman 1st Class Larry Mullikin, also a front desk clerk, deals with other lodging issues. Sergeant Allen works with the Gateway Inn’s Prime Knight service to coordinate lodging for all transient aircrew, which helps reduce ground time by getting the aircrew in and out of lodging more quickly. About one-third of rooms are occupied by Air Mobility Command transient aircrew at any given time. After bringing the aircrew orders to the front desk staff, lodging makes up the room keys, which Sergeant Allen then collects and takes out to the aircraft. The keys are then given straight to the aircrew, which means they don’t then have to wait in line at lodging. Airman Beard said this process can save the aircrew between two and three hours ground time. (U.S. Air Force photo by Karen Abeyasekere)
