Against the odds
Staff Nurse Jane Foster, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NeoNatal Unit, performs a heel prick test on Eric Frazier Oct. 21, as his mother Mandy Frazier looks on. Eric and his twin sister Alexis were born prematurely at 23 weeks gestational period, Sept. 6. Their due date was Jan. 1, 2009. Staff Nurse Foster is one of the hospital staff caring for the babies on the neonatal ward at the British hospital. A heel prick test, done to check different levels in the blood, is just one of the tests the babies have on a regular basis. (U.S. Air Force photo by Karen Abeyasekere)
