First to train
Staff Sgt. Guy Carriveau, 100th Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Prevention Flight firefighter, shows off the PBI Gold fire kit and galley helmet, part of the British firefighting uniform, similiar to the one he wore during a senior-level course at the Defence Fire Training and Development Centre at RAF Manston Sept. 15 through 17. Sergeant Carriveau was the first American and U.S. Air Force firefighter to attend the British defence fire training. During the training, he learned how to read fire behavior and how to look for, and spot, indicators of dangerous situations such as back drafts and flashovers.
