First place

Staff Sgt. Brian Morris, 488th Intelligence Squadron, crosses the finish line to win first place at the Aviano Air Base 2nd Annual Marathon in Italy. Morris finished the race laying down a huge personal record in 3:19.50. His pre-race plan was to average an eight-minute mile for a finishing time of 3:28.00 and setting a new marathon PR. “Between feeling pumped up and running a relatively flat course, I exceeded my goal,” said Morris. “The best part of the race was being able to travel to Aviano. I had the opportunity to visit with some old friends, meet new friends who share my passion for endurance sports and share in Tech. Sgt. (Angel) Rios’ first marathon finish. And having the Aviano Air Base commander thank Master Sgt. Sarah Webb and I for taking two of their first place medals away from them was fun too." As for what’s next on his agenda his long term goal is to continue swimming, cycling and running in preparation for Ironman Austria that will take place in Klagenfurt, Austria on July 5th 2009.
