Moving mountains
Alan Coldwell, Chris Gould and Jerry Myles, all British Defence Fire Service firefighters stationed at RAF Mildenhall, train in the fire department gym in preparation for the Three Peaks Challenge which they will undertake Oct. 2 to 3. The challenge involves climbing Ben Nevis, Scotland, Scaffel Pike, England, and Mount Snowdon, Wales, all within a total of 24 hours (including travelling between mountains). The men decided to work together, along with ex-collegue, Simon Dowling, formerly at RAF Mildenhall and now working at RAF Wattisham, to raise money for various charities they have personal involvement with. This is the first time any of the four will have attempted to climb a mountain, and as there are no mountains in the local area for them to train on, they have been working out hard in the gym and up and down the stairs of the air traffic control tower at RAF Mildenhall.
