Water survival training provides life-saving skills for aircrew
A forest penetrator hoists an RAF Lakenheath aircrew member from the water to simulate a helicopter hoist during water survival training March 20, 2014, at Lowestoft College in Norfolk, England. Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape specialists from RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath taught this life-saving training to aircrew from both bases, to physically familiarize them with the operational use of equipment in less-than-ideal conditions. Part of the exercise included demonstrations of personnel recovery devices such as a helicopter ladder and cargo ladder. (U.S. Air Force photo by Karen Abeyasekere/Released)
