Firefighters hone life-saving skills

U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Minh Thlang, right, from Seattle, Wash., and Defence Fire Service Firefighter Malcolm Strickland, from Ramsgate, Kent, both 100th Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department firefighters, conduct buddy checks March 18, 2014, during a live fire training exercise on RAF Mildenhall, England. Buddy checks are vital in ensuring their personal protective gear is not compromised, as firefighters place their lives in each other's hands and must be able to trust each other. Before entering a dangerous environment, it's routine for team members to check their partner's gear to prevent injury or death. This wingman principle is instilled in Air Force firefighters during technical school and continues throughout their career. (U.S. Air Force photo by Karen Abeyasekere/Released)
