RAF Mildenhall Airmen participate in Thetford Remembrance Day parade

U.S. Air Force Col. Christopher Ireland, 352nd Special Operations Group commander, salutes after laying a wreath during a Remembrance Day ceremony Nov. 10, 2013, in Thetford, England. The poppy was chosen as the symbol of remembrance because many British soldiers lost their lives in the poppy fields of Flanders, Belgium, during World War I. The day was originally named Armistice Day after World War I, which ended at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. The day was changed to Remembrance Day after World War II to honor all of the men and women who serve. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Stephen Linch/Released)
